In this paper, therefore, a study is made of the settlement of piled raft foundations through the use of a three-dimensional finite element consolidation analysis. The use of infinite elements with the consolidation analysis is introduced as a means of reducing computer memory usage and to cut down on solution by: In this study, the load carrying behavior of piled rafts embedded in sand were investigated using the 3-D finite element analysis.

Focus was given on piled rafts installed with driven piles. Based on these variables a finite element analysis was conducted on un – piled and piled raft foundation.

For the un – piled raft, a 8m × 8m raft size with variable thickness varying. The contributions cover computer methods, material modeling and testing, applications to a. The key technique used in this investigation is to determine the strain energy release rates G of the ring test by using finite element method (FEM) and the virtual crack extension method. The G versus crack growth curve is then combined with the FCGC to predict the number of cycles to failure and compare this with NREDS data.
